Sustainability
At Ecomama Farms, sustainability is not just a practice; it's a way of life. Our commitment to environmental stewardship guides everything we do, from how we grow our roses to how we engage with our community. We believe in nurturing the land that nurtures us, ensuring a harmonious and regenerative relationship with nature.
Biodynamic and Regenerative Farming
Our farming practices are rooted in biodynamic and regenerative agriculture, which focus on creating a self-sustaining ecosystem. This means we aim to give back to the land as much as we take from it, fostering a cycle of renewal and growth. Here’s how we achieve this:
Closed Ecosystem
We utilize every living and non-living element on our property to contribute to new growth. This includes using plant trimmings, animal waste, and organic matter to create rich compost that nourishes our soil.
Organic Practices
We strictly avoid the use of ANY pesticides, insecticides, or synthetic fertilizer. Instead, we rely on natural methods to protect and enhance the health and vitality of plants, animals, and people by working at the slow pace of Mother Nature. We do not use anything to manipulate the growth cycle or appearance of our roses, as we value the quality and health of our plants and our soil over quantity.
Biodiversity
We grow plants that attract pollinators like birds, bees, and butterflies, promoting biodiversity and a balanced ecosystem. Even the weeds are helpful informants, providing insights into the health of our soil and enhancing microbial activity. By fostering biodiversity, we ensure a vibrant and resilient ecological community that thrives year-round.

Water Conservation
Water is a precious resource, and we take great care to use it wisely. Our water conservation methods include:
Drip Irrigation: This efficient system delivers water directly to the roots of our plants, minimizing waste and ensuring that each drop is used effectively.
Seasonal Adjustments: We carefully coordinate with mother nature to allow rain to handle the irrigation needs and make slight adjustments manually to our irrigation to ensure never overwatering our trees and plants.
Rainwater Harvesting: We collect and store rainwater to supplement our irrigation needs, reducing our reliance on external water sources.
Waterway Management: By managing natural waterways on our property, we help maintain local water levels and support the surrounding ecosystem.

Natural Soil Enrichment
Our soil is the foundation of our farm, and we go to great lengths to keep it healthy and fertile:
Compost Tea Brews: We brew special teas customized for our different plant species made from plants, minerals and micro organisms that naturally feed, replenish, and strengthen our soil and nourish our plants.
Animal Rotation: By rotating where our animals graze, we add raw material to nourish the soil and eliminate the need for chemical fertilizers.
Cover Crops: We plant cover crops to protect and enrich the soil during off-seasons, preventing erosion and promoting biodiversity.
